We’re encouraging everyone in West Devon to help the environment and take part in Keep Britain Tidy’s eleventh Great British Spring Clean.
We are offering help to anyone wanting to hold litter picks across the area during Britain’s favourite environmental charity’s clean-up campaign. We can provide bags and litter picking equipment for picks, and our staff are joining and arranging litter pick events.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign, which runs from 13 to 29 March, is calling residents across the UK to show they love where they live by taking part in the mass action litter pick.

Did you know that household items containing lithium-ion batteries should be recycled separately?
When vapes, laptops, headphones, children’s toys, and mobile phones are thrown out in general waste, they can be crushed in the back of waste collection vehicles, or at waste depots, and cause fires that are extremely hard to battle – putting the lives of everyone involved at risk.
This week, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, and our Lead Member for Waste and Recycling, Cllr Jeff Moody, paid a visit to our Hayedown waste depot to see first-hand the issues these batteries can pose.
Find out how you can prevent battery fires in your community - find out more by clicking here.

Change is coming to local government, with the government planning to replace district and county councils with new unitary authorities delivering all your council services.
The government is holding a consultation on the possible options for Devon – and we need you to tell the government what services matter most to you, and what you need from a new unitary authority.
West Devon Borough Council, along with six of Devon’s other district councils, is supporting the Reimagining Devon proposal, which would see Devon split into three unitary authorities. One would cover Exeter and northern Devon, one would cover Torbay and southern Devon and the final one covers Plymouth, either on its existing boundaries or on a slightly expanded boundary that would include four parishes currently in the South Hams.
We believe that Reimagining Devon is the most balanced solution for all of Devon, not just those living in West Devon. It is a plan that would deliver efficient and effective services closer to communities, building on the dependable services already being delivered by Devon’s district councils.
The consultation is entering its last weeks, closing on Thursday 26 March.
You can find all the proposals at www.devonlgr.co.uk
