Inspiring students with food hygiene programme

Two people stand in a school hall, showing a large screen displaying food hygiene information

Two of our Environmental Health Officers recently visited Okehampton College to deliver an engaging presentation on food hygiene and the important role EHOs play in the community.

The event, attended by around 60 catering and hospitality students, aimed to raise awareness of food safety standards and encourage young people to consider careers in environmental health.

The officers shared practical insights into the expectations and compliance levels required in food businesses, helping to prepare future business owners and employees for the realities of maintaining high standards. We are proud to support local schools in this way, recognising the long-term benefits for public health and business compliance.

By investing in education and outreach, we hope to inspire the next generation of EHOs and ensure that food safety remains a priority across the Borough.
