We’ve launched a new campaign to help residents and landlords tackle damp and mould, ensuring every tenant has a safe, warm, and healthy home. Damp and mould can cause serious health problems, especially during the colder months. Following national concern and new Government guidance, we are taking proactive steps to prevent these issues locally.
What’s New?
- Quick reporting for tenants: If you have unresolved damp or mould problems, you can now report them easily using our simple online form.
- Clear advice for landlords: Access guidance on legal responsibilities and best practice.
- Practical tips for everyone: Find advice on identifying and treating damp and mould before it becomes a bigger problem.
This campaign is part of our wider commitment to improving housing standards and supporting community wellbeing. We’re encouraging landlords and tenants to work together to resolve issues early and keep homes healthy.

As part of our commitment to the environment, we've agreed to invest £150,000 into electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Kilworthy Park in Tavistock.
This includes the installation of the area’s only rapid charger. This rapid charging point will serve as a key destination for both local residents and visiting EV owners, making it easier than ever to access fast, reliable charging in Tavistock.
We have agreed to install seven charging points in the grounds, including one rapid charging point and six that will support overnight charging. These will be for the public to use as well as council services. The rapid charger will be the first of its type in the town, acting as a destination charging point for local and visiting electric vehicle owners.
The charging points are part of our EV strategy, to work with partners to provide high quality and well distributed charging points, while also adding new electric vehicles to our fleet to lead by example as well as reducing our own emissions.

This Christmas, the Food Standards Agency is putting out a series of messages on food safety at Christmas.
A festive spread of smoked fish, soft mould-ripened cheese and cold meats is a feast for the eyes and also unfortunately for listeria bacteria, which can make you ill.
Keep your cold spread cold and consider alternative picky bits, especially for pregnant women and your vulnerable relatives, who are more at risk of being seriously ill with food poisoning.
