video

We are continuing our work to improve housing conditions and support residents’ health and wellbeing.

Following the success of the Home Upgrade Grant, which helped 39 households enjoy warmer, more energy-efficient homes, we have now launched a new £1.6 million Warmer Homes: Local Grant.

The scheme delivered in partnership with Tamar Energy Community will support even more households over the next three years, helping those on low incomes living in cold or damp homes.

The new West Devon Wildlife Wardens website is now live.

The website focuses on how West Devon residents can get involved with helping nature thrive, and information on how we can increase and protect biodiversity in our area.

There are features on the importance of pollinators and wildlife gardening and how to attract local wildlife. The regularly updated event calendar includes links to nature, climate and biodiversity-themed events and volunteering opportunities from webinars to networking and training events to get involved in.

Pupils at primary schools across West Devon will soon be receiving a visit from Bonster, the food waste eating Monster, as part of Recycle Devon’s Waste Education Programme.

Children will be taught how important it is to use their food waste caddy at home as part of a fun and engaging assembly, delivered by Resource Futures.

The high impact assemblies will take place from November 2025 to March 2026 and aim to raise awareness among children about the problems of food waste, and how they and their families can help.
