Shaping Devon's Future

LGR Let's talk west devon local government reorganisation

We'd like to thank everyone who attended our roadshow of engagement events on local government reorganisation across West Devon.

People living across the borough turned up to find out more about how reorganisation could change the way local services are delivered and to let us know what mattered to them.

Feedback from the events and the survey is being considered as we put our case together for what believe is best for West Devon and the rest of Devon.

You can still have your say in our online survey - visit our website to share your thoughts.

Big progress at Okehampton Interchange

Okehampton Interchange, the newest station in the west, is one step closer to welcoming passengers after a major stage of construction was completed.

The lift shaft, footbridge span and staircase have all been lifted into place, with the Devon station now beginning to take shape.

Okehampton Interchange is a £15m project, made possible thanks to West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council successfully bidding for Government funding, together with contributions from both authorities.

HIGH VIS GROUP

The new fully accessible station, being built by Network Rail and its contractor Octavius, is set to open in summer 2026. It will be the newest addition to the Dartmoor Line, complementing the existing Okehampton station, and will provide an hourly train to connect West Devon, Torridge and North Cornwall with Exeter and beyond.

Some of our councillors recently went along to see the progress first-hand.
