Following our successful trial last year, we now have 11 electric vehicles in our shared fleet with West Devon.
The expanded fleet will be used across a range of council services, helping to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and set a leading example for others. You will soon see the new EVs in action on the streets.
Discover for yourself how even small actions can make a big difference towards a sustainable future.

It’s now easier than ever to book a bulky waste collection with us.
Residents who need help disposing of large household items can book a bulky waste collection through the council’s website; we can collect large household items, like a broken fridge or an old sofa, directly from your home, for just £25 per item.
When using the council’s service, you can rest easy knowing your household items are being disposed of responsibly and safely.
The service is available to residential households only. Collections take place every Wednesday, and bookings can be made up to 12 weeks in advance.
Items must be placed outside the property by 7 a.m. on the day of collection. The service does not cover business or commercial waste, or building and renovation materials.
To see what can be collected and to make a booking, visit our bulky waste collection page.

A new short film from the Bioregional Learning Centre (BLC) about The Saltmarsh Project recently premiered at the UK Saltmarsh Forum at Swansea University. It’s now available to watch on BLC’s YouTube channel and website.
The film highlights the incredible restoration and educational work taking place along the River Dart, including our Longmarsh site. Here, a new boardwalk allows residents and visitors to enjoy the saltmarsh without harming the habitat or disturbing wildlife.
The Longmarsh project supports our ambitions to tackle climate change and improve local biodiversity. By restoring saltmarshes, we can enhance natural flood protection, store carbon, and provide rich habitats for wildlife – all while giving residents a chance to enjoy and learn from our unique riverside environment.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to see how local conservation efforts are making a real difference – and perhaps even inspire your next visit to Longmarsh!
