Webinar

As requested by Government we are continuing the work to develop proposals for local government reorganisation in Devon.

As we continue to work up the plans, we felt it would be a good time to meet with our Town and Parish colleagues to update on progress and to gain any feedback from you on how the plans are shaping up.

With that in mind, we would like to invite Town and Parish colleagues to join an online meeting with our Councillor Dan Thomas (Leader) and Andy Bates (Chief Executive).

The meeting will be held on:

  • Wednesday 23 July 2025
  • 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

An invite will shortly be sent to clerks, but please feel free to forward this on to other Town and Parish councillors who would wish to attend.

Please note that this briefing is in addition to the specific briefing session arranged for the 13 Parish and Town Councils who would be impacted by Plymouth City Council’s planned expansion.

Shaping Devon’s future - have your say

Survey

An opportunity for residents, community groups and businesses to have a say

Alongside briefing our Town and Parish colleagues, we are today launching a survey to seek the views of residents, community groups and businesses across the District.

While the formal consultation on any future local government structures will be carried out by Government, we feel that the views of our communities are important as we continue to shape the final proposal.

The survey, along with some frequently asked questions can be found on our new dedicated Local Government Reorganisation website at:

At this point in time, our engagement is to capture comments and thoughts from our communities to inform the narrative of the final proposal.

Over the coming months we are planning a series of residents' meetings and other engagement activities – more information will follow on this as the plans shape up.

Colleagues in West Devon, Teignbridge and Torbay will also be taking a similar approach to engagement running in parallel to ours.
