We have announced the new Mayor of West Devon for the next 12 months at this year's Annual Council meeting.
Cllr Paul Vachon, ward member for Okehampton South, will be the mayor for the coming year. He accepted the chain of office from the outgoing mayor, Cllr Debo Sellis, after he was voted into the post by fellow councillors.
Cllr Chris Edmonds, ward member for Tamarside, was appointed deputy mayor.

“I don’t know what you’ve done, but I’m happy.” – those were the words of a 9-year-old boy in foster care, said with surprise after a year of love, care, and stability with Jane, one of our amazing West Devon foster carers.
As part of Foster Care Fortnight, we’re sharing Jane’s powerful story — from the joy of seeing children blossom, to the vital support that helps care leavers build secure, independent lives.
Thanks to some of our initiatives like housing priority, council tax relief, and free access to gyms and pools, young people leaving care aren’t doing it alone — they’re moving forward with confidence and connection.
Read Jane’s inspiring journey and how we’re backing care leavers every step of the way.
Next week's bank holiday will affect when we come to collect your recycling and waste.
