
After using fake QR codes or downloading from unofficial websites, there have been a few instances where residents have fallen victim to fraudulent PayByPhone accounts.
If you are using car parks across West Devon, please remember to download the PayByPhone app from PayByPhone directly or through the official app stores only:
Please note that we do not operate any QR codes in our car parks, and we make daily checks of our machines and car park signs to look out for fake QR stickers.

The Devon County Council elections will take place on Thursday 1 May 2025.
The votes will be counted on Friday 2 May 2025.
Who can vote?
You can vote if you are:
- registered to vote
- 18 years old or older on election day
- registered at a Devon address
- a British, Irish, or qualifying Commonwealth citizen living in the UK
- not legally excluded from voting

Are you registered to vote?
To vote on Thursday 1 May elections, you must be registered to vote.
If you have never registered before, or your circumstances have changed, visit the Gov.UK website
- The deadline to register is Friday 11 April
How do I vote?
Once registered, you can decide how to vote. There are 3 ways you can do it. Choose the way that suits you best.
You can either:
- vote in person at the polling station
- by post
- by proxy (ask someone you trust to vote on your behalf)
Vote in person at a polling station (with your photo ID)
Vote in person go to the polling listed on your poll card, which you'll receive through the post a few weeks before polling day. You will need to take your photo ID. You can check what forms of ID will be accepted on the Electoral Commission website.
- The deadline to apply for free voter ID is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.
Apply to vote by post or proxy vote
If you know that you cannot get to the polling station on polling day, you can vote by post or by proxy.
You can apply for a postal vote on the Electoral Commission website.
- The deadline for this is 5pm on Monday 14 April.
You can also apply for a proxy vote on the Electoral Commission website.
- The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.
I have a disability
If you have a disability, our Electoral Services Team can tell you about physical access, for example wheelchair ramps and disabled parking spaces, low-level polling booths, and any specific equipment you need.
Each polling station has a large print display version of the ballot paper available if needed, just ask the clerk.
If you can’t vote in person, then you can apply to vote by post or vote by proxy.
