Work begins to build Okehampton Interchange

Work has begun to build Okehampton Interchange, a new railway station on the edge of the town.

The £15 million station is the newest addition to the Dartmoor Line and will connect West Devon, Torridge and North Cornwall with Exeter and beyond. The scheme is being funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) with contributions from Devon County Council and West Devon Borough Council.

Have your say on the conservation area of Tavistock, a unique stannary town in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.

The town's conservation area looks to conserve Tavistock's special architecture and historic character. The latest appraisal of the area suggests a small boundary extension and other potential improvements.


Sign up for garden waste collections

You can now sign up to or renew your subscription for our garden waste collection service.

A year-long subscription to our garden waste collection service will cost £65 for 2025/26. One subscription provides four generous reusable sacks, which are collected every fortnight on the same day of the week as your recycling collections, in the opposite week to your black bag refuse collections. 

Subscribers can put grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, cut flowers and plants, small branches, weeds, leaves, twigs, and vase flowers in their bags for collection.

You can sign up for 2025/26 collections from now, with collections starting from 1 April 2025. The year’s subscription will run until 31 March 2026.

Do you have photo ID to vote?

You need to show photo identification (ID) to vote at a polling station in the Devon County Council elections on 1 May 2025.

Which forms of ID can I use to vote?

You may already have a form of photo ID that is acceptable. You can use any of the following:

  • Passport
  • Driving licence (including provisional license)
  • Blue badge
  • Certain concessionary travel cards
  • Identity card with PASS mark (Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
  • Biometric Immigration document including eVisas
  • Defence identity card
  • HM Armed Forces Veteran Card
  • Certain national identity cards

You will only need to show one form of photo ID, but it needs to be the original version and not a photocopy. The name on your ID must be the same name you used to register to vote.
