Who is your community hero?

chairman video

Do you know someone doing wonderful things for your community? Is there an organisation which is making a real difference to local people?

If yes, you can now shine a spotlight on their hard work by nominating them for a South Hams Community Award.

The awards celebrate community heroes who go above and beyond to help local people every day.

The Chairman of the Council along with a panel of judges, are looking for nominations in four categories:

  • The Young Persons Award (for under 18s)
  • The Community Champion Award (for over 18s)
  • The Community Organisation Award
  • Climate and Biodiversity Champion Award

The Climate and Biodiversity Champion category, a new award for 2025 has been added to recognise those doing great things for the natural environment and helping to tackle climate change, one of our top priorities.

You can nominate online until 11.59pm on Monday 10 February 2025.

Revamp to Ivybridge toilets start next week

IVYBRIDGE

From Monday 20 January, we’re carrying out a revamp of the public toilets next to Glanvilles Mill Car Park.

The work is expected to be completed by the end March and will see a complete refresh of the facilities. It will also see the installation of ‘The RoomMate’ in the accessible toilet - an audio device to help blind and visually impaired users.

The accessible toilets will remain open for use while work is carried out.
