Bannawell Street play park better than ever

playparkplayvideo

A popular play park in Tavistock has new and improved equipment for children to enjoy – thanks to support from West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Town Council.

The Bannawell Street play park had its grand reopening last Friday, with dozens of children turning out to make use of the new equipment for the first time.

Tavistock Town Council led on the project and we supported it with S106 funding from the Embden Grange development, as part of our priority to support West Devon’s communities.

You can watch our video on the project here, or read more about the project on the news section of our website.

Alcohol PSPO

We would like your thoughts on Public Space Protection Orders for two of our towns, Okehampton and Tavistock.

What is a Public Space Protection Order? (PSPO)

A PSPO deals with potential anti-social behaviour in an area which could have a harmful effect on the quality of life for those in the local community. It can ban or restrict certain things, or need specific things to be done - in this case the control of alcohol in public areas.

There are some areas of West Devon where the public drinking of alcohol is restricted. PSPOs last for three years before they need to be reviewed and the current orders run out in November. We now need to consult on the next set for the following three year period.

Please visit the consultation to have your say, which runs until Friday 23 August.

Free decarbonisation support for businesses

decarbonisation

We're supporting local businesses and helping them to become more energy efficient through a new decarbonisation scheme.

As part of our efforts to support both the economy and natural environment, we're providing funding for a specialist consultancy for businesses, being run by Libraries Unlimited.

Those who take part can also apply for Rural England Prosperity Fund decarbonisation grants, which could help to pay for implementing one or more of the measures highlighted in their decarbonisation plans.

Businesses can sign up for the project by registering an interest online by clicking here.

Find out more on our website or by watching our YouTube video.
