Struggling financially? Funding is available

benefits

 

If you’re struggling with day to day living costs such as food, energy costs or essential household items, help is at hand for eligible residents through our Household Support Fund. 

All care leavers living in the Borough between 2 June and 30 September 2024 will be prioritised with a £500 payment. 

With limited finances available, we will also prioritise residents with the lowest incomes to help support as many households as possible.

Have you registered to vote? It just takes a couple of minutes!

To make sure you have your say in the General Election on Thursday 4 July, register to vote before Tuesday 18 June.

If you have never registered, have recently moved or changed your name, you will need to register to vote.

Vote by post

Useful if you know that you won’t be able to get to the polling station on polling day, you can vote by post.

Vote by proxy 

You can ask someone you trust to cast your vote on your behalf if you're unavailable to vote. This is called a proxy vote and the person casting your vote is called your proxy.

Don't forget you need photo ID to vote

You must have photo ID to vote in any election. 

Photo ID includes: 

  • Passport
  • Driving licence
  • Blue badge
  • Defence identity card
  • Government issued travel passes

If you don't have photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. Apply before 5 p.m. on Wednesday 26 June

Live overseas but still want to vote?

If you live overseas but still want to have your say in the General Election, there are some changes to be aware of. 

  • The 15 year limit on voting rights has now been removed.
  • The registration period has been extended to three years.

This means that overseas voters will only need to register to vote every three years.
