If you're worried about crime rates, neighbourhood policing and cuts, then vote in the next Police and Crime Commissioner elections on Thursday 2 May!

Each police area has a Police and Crime Commissioner and elections for the role are held every four years. 

Police and Crime Commissioners are elected to make sure the local force is meeting the needs of the community. They are responsible for. 

  • How the area is policed
  • Engaging with the public and victims of crime to help set police and crime plans and organising projects within the community
  • Setting the police budget and making sure it is spent effectively
  • The amount of Council Tax charged for the police
  • The information you get about what local police are doing
  • Appointing the Chief Constable
  • Working closely with local councils and other community organisations on these plans and projects

Preventing exploitation session for professionals

South Devon and Dartmoor Community Safety Partnership are hosting a FREE  online session for professionals on Thursday 16 May, focused on preventing exploitation. 

Attendees will hear from speakers from a variety of agencies including Devon and Cornwall Police and Devon County Council. The session will cover topics such as radicalisation, criminal and sexual exploitation, as well as preventing exploitation in adolescents. It will also support parents along with offering advice on how to report any concerns.

There will also be 15 minutes at the end where speakers will be happy to take any questions.

Freeport event for businesses

The event takes place at Plymouth Albion Rugby Club on Tuesday 23 April from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

We have an exciting role for a Wildlife Warden Co-ordinator, who will support towns, parishes, community groups and individual volunteers across the borough to monitor, record and improve biodiversity.
