Helping communities deliver more homes

Housing Houses

We are striving to tackle the housing crisis by investing £50,000 to help local communities deliver more new affordable homes.

Our West Devon Housing Offer, launching this May will help tackle some of the Borough’s local housing challenges, by connecting landowners and communities, to explore potential sites and along with a development partner, make it a reality.

Our offer will provide financial support and practical advice on forming community housing groups and identifying housing need, as well as helping established groups to find suitable sites and pre-planning advice.

A Competitive decision for parking

Car Parking

Following a public consultation, our Hub Committee have agreed changes to our pay and display car parks.

We are returning to our pre-pandemic prices in long stay car parks but are freezing short stay prices at the same price to help shoppers and those stopping in the town for shorter periods, to support the local economy.

Prices have remained unchanged since early 2021, but high inflation means we need to make some changes to balance financial challenges.

Other changes include Tavistock’s Abbey car park will be extending from a 4-hour stay to a 6-hour stay following requests from the local community.

Brentor and Lydford car parks will also move over to Dartmoor National Park’s management instead of ours.

We have also asked that Devon County Council proactively consult with us about on-street parking matters that concern the economy of our towns.
