We Will Remember Them

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day (Saturday 11 November).

At 11 a.m. we will join the rest of the nation in observing a two-minute silence to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives fighting in war and conflict.

Earlier today we delivered a wreath to Great Western Railway's Poppy Train at Ivybridge Station. From there the train will travel to London Paddington Station and the wreath will be placed at the War Memorial on Platform One.

Joining Forces to Help Tackle Homelessness

We know that trying to find an affordable place to live is really difficult for our residents at the moment. That is why we're doing everything we can to help to support those who find themselves in difficult circumstances and why housing continues to be one of our top priorities.

We have joined forces with councils across the country to urge the Government to take action when it comes to supporting those facing homelessness and in need of temporary accommodation.

Alongside district and borough councils across the country, we have signed a letter with actions that could help ease the financial pressures when providing temporary accommodation to our most vulnerable residents.

Looking To Downsize?

It doesn't take long before children grow up and fly the nest. Suddenly you find yourself in a house that is too big, with unused rooms and larger heating bills.

If you find that your family situation has changed where your larger property no longer suits you, then perhaps downsizing may be for you.

We want to help support our local families who are struggling in homes that are too small for their growing families. To do this we need to help make some of our larger social rented houses in the Borough available.

Can you help us, to help a family?

Our voluntary downsizing scheme even offers up to £5,000 when moving to a smaller home.

Know A Great Local Cause?

seamoor lotto

It's really nice to support charities, especially local ones if you possibly can. It's a nice treat too if you have the bonus chance to win yourself a prize while doing good for others at the same time.

SeaMoor Lotto is a great way to help good local causes that you care about. Since its launch, our Lotto has raised thousands of pounds for South Hams small charities. If you enter before Saturday 25 November you also get a chance to win a £1,000 eGift Card for John Lewis & Waitrose!

Tickets are £1 in the weekly draw and you have the chance of winning weekly cash prizes of up to £25,000.

If you scoop the big prize, whatever your family and friends want under the tree this year, you’ll be able to one-stop-shop your Christmas present shopping at John Lewis - or pull out all the stops for your festive feasts with Waitrose! Prefer a little more flexibility? You can even choose to take the cash!

It really is a win-win: even if you don’t win a cash prize you can be happy knowing that you are making a real difference to a good cause within the Borough.
