Let's Talk About Housing

housing event tav

Come and talk to us about housing issues facing you at our dedicated housing stall tomorrow (7 October) in Tavistock.

Our Housing Team, alongside Rentplus-UK and LiveWest, will be at Bedford Square tomorrow (Saturday 7 October) from 10 a.m. to 2.pm to talk to residents about housing.

Those who cannot afford to rent or buy a home on the open market can get advice on how low-cost home ownership works. You can also find details of affordable rent options and new properties which will soon be available across the borough.

Landlords and tenants can also get advice from SeaMoor Lettings, our own ethical lettings agency, whose focus is to provide opportunities for people to remain in the area.

Housing opportunities for people in West Devon are a top priority for the Borough Council.

Hitting a Six with S106 Funding

cricket club s106

A huge project to improve cricket facilities at one of West Devon's biggest clubs will see the club continue to offer sporting opportunities to an ever-growing number of people living in the borough.

The pavilion revamp project at Tavistock Cricket Club has seen the club create a new disabled toilet, a girls' changing room and extend the existing changing room.

We have helped the project with £120,000 of S106 funding.

The works at the club pavilion will allow the club to continue growing its cricket programme and welcome children and adults alike into enjoying sport and improving their wellbeing.

Watch our video on the project and read more on our website.

Single-Use Plastics Ban

Single Use Plastics

Devon's Trading Standards service is reminding businesses, such as takeaways, sandwich bars, care homes and retailers who supply certain single-use plastic items, that a ban has now come into force, and that they should be using alternatives.

The Government brought in a widening ban on more single use plastic items on 1 October.

It means that businesses across England can not supply certain single-use plastic items to members of the public.

The ban includes all single-use plastic cutlery, trays, plates, bowls, and balloon sticks, as well as banning the use of certain types of polystyrene cups and food containers used to supply food that is ready to consume.
