Let's Talk About Housing

Our Housing Team alongside Rentplus-UK and LiveWest will be at Bedford Square in Tavistock on Saturday 7 October from 10 a.m. to to talk to residents about housing.

At a dedicated housing stand, those who cannot afford to rent or buy a home on the open market can get advice on how low-cost home ownership works. There you can also find details of affordable rent options and new properties which will soon be available across the Borough.

Landlords and tenants can also get advice from SeaMoor Lettings, our own ethical lettings agency, whose focus is to provide opportunities for people to remain in the area.

Housing opportunities for people in West Devon are a top priority for the Borough Council.

Today (Friday 29 September) is the last chance to nominate someone for this month's Mayor's Young Person Green Award.

If you know a young person, group or youth club (aged 4 to 11) who are doing great things to support the environment, nominate them now!

Cllr Lynn Daniel, Mayor of West Devon, recently spoke to us about why these awards are so important. View the video here

With tackling climate change high on our list of priorities, it is important that we recognise and celebrate the work of our young people across the Borough.

'Let's Talk' Sessions for Parents and Carers

safer devon

Are you a parent of a pre-teen or teenager?

The Let’s Talk programme is an opportunity for parents or guardians of a pre-teen or teenager to hear about the challenges young people are facing today, and how you can support them.

FREE online sessions are taking place throughout October covering a range of topics.

'Let's talk about growing up in a porn culture' takes place on 18 October and is designed to help parents and carers understand the impact of pornography on kids and help build resilience in families and homes against the emotional, behavioural and sexual harms of pornography.

Book a place here.

Support a Good Local Cause

SeaMoor Lotto is a fun way to help good local causes that you care about. Since its launch, our Lotto has raised thousands of pounds for local West Devon small charities.

You can choose exactly which good cause you would like your money to go to, and unlike larger lotteries, most of the cost of your ticket comes straight back into the community.

Tickets are £1 in the weekly draw with the chance of winning weekly cash prizes of up to £25,000.

Enter before Saturday 30 September and you can also be in with a chance of winning a £1,500 Ikea voucher.

It really is a win-win: even if you don’t win a cash prize you can be happy knowing that you are making a real difference to a good cause within the Borough!
