Local Elections in the South Hams

Tomorrow is the big day - local elections for district wards in the South Hams take place tomorrow on Thursday 4 May. 

Polling stations will be open across the South Hams from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.


Remember... Bring your Photo ID!

Voter ID


The 4 May elections are the first where you will need to bring photo ID to vote at a polling station or you will not be able to vote.

You'll only need to bring one form of photo ID. Make sure that you bring the original version and not a photocopy.

Acceptable forms of photo ID

  • Passport - issued by the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, a British Overseas Territory, an EEA state or a Commonwealth country.
  • Driving licence issued by the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or an EEA state. This includes a provisional driving licence.
  • Voter Authority Certificate.
  • A Blue Badge.
  • Older Person's Bus Pass / Disabled Person's Bus Pass.
  • Freedom Pass.
  • Identity card bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram (a PASS card).
  • Biometric immigration document.
  • MOD Form 90 (Defence Identity Card).
  • National identity card issued by an EEA state.
  • Anonymous Elector's Document.

Dozens of polling stations will open up tomorrow across the district - but you can only vote in your dedicated polling station.

You can find the location of your polling station on your poll card, which you should have received in the post.
