Uncontested Seat in Milton Ford

vote elections

There will be no need to vote for a Borough Councillor if you live in Milton Ford during the upcoming local elections on 4 May.

There was one seat available for the Milton Ford ward, but with only one candidate standing, that means they will automatically be elected on 4 May.

While Chillaton, Lamterton, Sydenham Damerel and Milton Abbot residents will not need to turn out to vote, the polling station in Milton Abbot will be open to residents of Dunterton, who will be able to vote in the Tamarside Ward election.

Staff at the Borough Council have been getting things ready for polling day, including processing nomination papers, appointing and training around 300 staff for its polling stations, updating the electoral register, processing applications for postal and proxy votes and more.

The Council is also working to make this election the most accessible ever, with polling booths with wheelchair access, ramps where available, large print sample ballot papers and magnifiers, tactile voting devices, reserved disabled parking where available and further considerations being made at polling stations.

Emergency Alerts

Emergency Alerts

The Government's new Emergency Alerts system will be tested at 3 p.m. on Sunday, 23 April by sending a national test alarm to all smartphones that use 4G and 5G phone networks.

An emergency alert is a loud, siren-like sound with a message on your mobile phone and will sound, even if the mobile phone is set on silent. It will be used to alert you of danger nearby, such as bad weather and flooding.

The government is advising anyone with a secret phone that provides an opportunity to reach for help when needed, that it is possible to opt out of these alerts, details can be found at: www.gov.uk/alerts/how-alerts-work

If you know or care for someone who may become distressed during this alarm, please help them prepare in advance.
