Has your business signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant?
The AFC is a promise to ensure that those who serve, or who have served, in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. The city council have signed up to the AFC which aims to:
- encourage people to support the Armed Forces community in their area
- increase understanding and awareness of the issues affecting the Armed Forces
- recognise and remember their sacrifices
- hold activities which help the Armed Forces mix with the community
- encourage the Armed Forces to help and support the community, through participation in events and joint projects, or other forms of engagement
Organisations may choose to sign up in order to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces Community and for the principles of the Covenant. All organisations – public, private or voluntary and small, medium or large – are welcome to sign the Covenant.
The city council has a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award, which is presented specifically to employers who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and demonstrated and communicated supportive behaviour to Reservists, service leavers, adult cadet instructors and their families.
The AFC shows your organisation has Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, it also contributes to your organisations Corporate Social Responsibly’
