Stoptober

Stoptober is an annual, national campaign that encourages smokers across England to quit smoking during October. It is based on the insight that if a person can stop smoking for 28 days, they are five times more likely to be able to quit for good.

The NHS Quit Smoking app is free to download or there is a range of support available locally. Support is also available for tobacco users who are planning on using e-cigarettes to help to quit. Go to: www.stoke.gov.uk/smokefree for more information.

COVID-19 autumn booster campaign

The autumn COVID-19 booster is being offered to those at high risk of the complications of COVID-19 infection. As the number of COVID-19 infections increases over the winter, this booster should help to reduce the risk of being admitted to hospital from the virus. Visit: http://nhs.uk/covid-booster to get started. To read more about the autumn booster programme on the Government website please click here.

Flu vaccine

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has warned of lower levels of natural immunity to flu this year as well as increased coronavirus (COVID-19) circulation. For this reason, as well as the COVID-19 vaccine, it's also really important to take up the offer of a free flu vaccine if you are eligible. People can also have a flu vaccine at the same time as the COVID-19 booster, if eligible. For more information about the flu jab on the NHS website, click here.
