Rough sleeper numbers fall in Stoke-on-Trent

The number of people sleeping rough in Stoke-on-Trent fell by more than 50 per cent in 2019 thanks to partnership work between Stoke-on-Trent City Council and a wide variety of agencies across the city.

The annual estimate of rough sleepers, carried out in line with Government guidelines, showed there were 16 people sleeping rough on the chosen night in November 2019 compared with 34 at the same time in 2018.

This represents the lowest figure since 2015 and reflects the huge amount of work undertaken by the council and its partners to support some of the most vulnerable members of the community to ensure that everyone has a stable home even at the point of crisis from which they can rebuild their lives.
