Our sites have loads of fantastic events going on over the autumn half term - and lots of them are FREE. Make sure you don't miss out. Check out the rundown of what's on below. You can find out about more events across Stoke-on-Trent at https://www.stoke.gov.uk/events. See the previous 'council news' bulletin for information about what's on at our museums.

Libraries
There’s lots going on at the city’s libraries this half term, including a big celebration of reading and writing. Activities include:

adventures

• The Mysterious Case of the Four Quarters – Monday, October 28 to Wednesday, October 30. FREE. Guardians of a mysterious book will take over Stoke-on-Trent libraries this half term as part of a new project celebrating reading and writing. The characters from The Mysterious Case of the Four Quarters will take families on a secret mission among the bookshelves as they tell the tale of a magical world facing its darkest hour. In a world where stories come to life, failure could mean the world is never the same again.

These performances will form part of the Adventures With Words project - put together by Stoke-On-Trent libraries and arts organisation B arts. There will be four shows each day. The Mysterious Case of the Four Quarters tickets must be booked in advance by contacting your local library. The performance is suitable for children aged five to 14 and children under eight years old must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Shows last approximately 30 minutes and will move around the library area. More information can be found at https://www.stoke.gov.uk/adventureswithwords.

• Spooky story time and craft session – Stoke Library – Wednesday, October 30, 1.30pm to 3pm. FREE. Listen to spooky stories and create some spine-tingling Halloween crafts. This is a free family activity. Children under eight will need to be accompanied by a parent or carer.

• Storytime and craft sessions – Bentilee, City Central and Stoke Libraries – Saturday, November 2, 11am to 12pm.

• We’re Going On A Bear Hunt / Small Talk family fun day – Central Forest Park – Friday, November 1, 10am to 3pm. The Little Library Van will be at this event organised by the National Literacy Trust. The activities celebrate the 30th anniversary of beloved children’s book We're Going on a Bear Hunt. Children who take part in the activities will be given a free tote bag to take home, filled with goodies including a new book, bubbles, activity sheets and a fridge magnet. Across all city libraries, there will also be the usual weekly story bears, singing bears, and bouncing bears activities.
