Park football pitch resurfaced

Work to replace the synthetic football pitch surface is now complete. Thanks to the Friends of Hanley Park and funding from the Community Investment Fund the five-a-side football pitch can continue to provide a vital facility for the local community.

The 2G sand-based pitch was installed into the sports zone in Hanley Park around 15 years ago and is used by more than 50,000 people a year. It has been replaced with a 3G rubber crumb surface and will continue to provide a free facility for the park users as the busiest times of day as well as having periods where it can be booked by clubs, community groups and local educational establishments.

It is also hoped a variety of activities for all ages can be provided throughout the year. The sports zone is floodlit until 9pm and available for free community use.

As well as the football pitch, facilities include four tennis courts, two ball courts, three cricket nets and table tennis. The pitch will be available for bookings early next year, email hanleypark@stoke.gov.uk for more information.

Hanley Park Paths

Restoration update

Work to the park's paths are now well under way. Thanks to additional funding we are able to resurface most of the paths in the park to make it easier for pushchairs and wheelchairs to get around. It will also improve the route for the Parkrun which is soon to celebrate eight years in Hanley Park.

Like Hanley Park Facebook page for all the up-to-date information on the path closures.
