Quick - don't miss out... the deadline to sign up for the Hanley Economic Building Society Potters 'Arf Marathon is nearly here!

It’s less than a month until the event, which is one of the most unique and rewarding half marathons in the country.

Make sure you go online at Bookitzone here and get your spot in this year’s amazing ’Arf, which takes place on June 9.

Participants can also register at any branch of the Hanley Economic Building Society.

If you want to enter and get your runner’s pack in the post, the deadline is Saturday, May 18. You can still sign up after that – but anyone who registers from May 19 will have to collect their race number at the event.

And the final deadline to register online is 10am on Sunday, June 2.

In the run-up to the event, we're encouraging everyone to use the hashtag #PottersArf on social media to post messages, pictures and video of their preparation.

We can't wait for the big day!

More information is available at http://www.potters-arf.co.uk/ and below.

What's the latest?

trophies

We've received hundreds of entries for the event already - and the first race packs have now been sent out. Have you got yours? Why not post on social media with #PottersArf.

The Potters 'Arf team have also received the amazing winners' trophies - thanks to renowned local ceramics company Emma Bridgewater. These iconic prizes, pictured, will go to the winners of the men's and women's races.

And which other half marathon has 'gluggle jugs' as a prize?! The 'Arf also boasts a golden chance for team winners to net this stunning Wade Ceramics pottery.

The classic design, pictured, makes a 'glugging' sound when pouring - surely a catch of the day!

Everyone who finishes receives a t-shirt and goody bag, as well as a medal created by Wade Ceramics which includes a time bonus ribbon for those achieving sub-two hours, one hour 45 minutes, and one hour 30 minutes.

Trophy presentations take place at the Hanley Economic branch in Lamb Street, Hanley.

Why the Potters ’Arf?

There are so many reasons to sign up…

• A proper Potteries welcome - experiencing Stokie support is special;
• Places for all - sections for runners, relays teams, walkers and juniors;
• Time bonus medals - bespoke ceramic medals created by Wade Ceramics;
• City centre finish - providing a real atmosphere as you cross that line;
• Fantastic challenges - a testing route including the infamous ‘Heartbreak Hill’.

What happens?

Walkers start at 9am, with runners setting off at 10.30am. The 13.1-mile half marathon follows a well-marshalled route, with participants gathering at Huntbach Street in Hanley, starting on Potteries Way and finishing back in the city centre near the Sir Stanley Matthews statue.
