On Saturday 27 April join local author Alan Myatt for a talk about his brand new book ‘Trentham History Tour’, which offers a fascinating insight into the history and changing face of Trentham, including its well-known streets and buildings and its lesser-known sights and hidden corners. Alan will also be signing copies of the book which can be purchased from the Gladstone Shop. 11.30am.

Enjoy a whistle stop trip around the creative county and hear more about its heroes - from Philip Astley and his circus to Shane Meadows and his films. 11.30am.

Not all bottle ovens were in Stoke-on-Trent and you can find out more in Bottle Ovens & Pottery of South Derbyshire on Saturday 11 May. This talk by Dr Iain Hambling of Cornish Ware makers T. G. Green & Co Pottery is a great way to learn more about the 9 surviving bottle ovens of South Derbyshire. 11.30am.

Harvey Adams was a Longton potter operating from 1860 through to 1895. From 1869-1885 he had his own potbank on Sutherland Road as Harvey Adams & Co and was in partnership with J B Shelley and Titus Hammersley among others. He was a local councillor, radical non-conformist, innovator and the inventor of the ‘moustache cup’ which had a ledge to keep the moustaches of Victorian gentleman dry while they drank their tea. Join David Leese on Saturday 25 May for his talk A Victorian Potter’s Tale: Harvey Adams and the Moustache Cup and find out more about this fascinating Victorian character. 11.30am.

All of these talks are free to attend and normal admission applies to the rest of the museum. Booking is essential and to secure a place please call the museum on 01782 237777.
