Harvey Adams was a Longton potter operating from 1860 through to 1895. From 1869-1885 he had his own potbank on Sutherland Road as Harvey Adams & Co and was in partnership with J B Shelley and Titus Hammersley among others. He was a local councillor, radical non-conformist, innovator and the inventor of the ‘moustache cup’ which had a ledge to keep the moustaches of Victorian gentleman dry while they drank their tea. Join David Leese on Saturday 25 May for his talk A Victorian Potter’s Tale: Harvey Adams and the Moustache Cup and find out more about this fascinating Victorian character. 11.30am. |
