Council Tax Email Scam
Problem
Local residents have reported receiving emails informing them that they are entitled to a council tax rebate.
The email contains a link which if clicked goes to a webpage which asks for personal details such as name, address, bank account number and sort code.
The emails are being sent from:
city.council.payroll.services.gov.uk@tax.com
Action
This is not a Stoke-on-Trent City Council email address and the City Council will never ask for details such as this in an unsolicited email.
If you receive one of these emails you should delete it immediately and not click on the link.

If you think you have been a victim of fraud, contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit their website at http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
