Christmas Opening Times

Please note that the museum will close at 3pm and the café will close at 2pm on Saturday 22 December.

The museum will re-open at 10am on Wednesday 2 January and the café will open at 11am.

We will then be back to our normal opening hours, Tuesdays to Saturdays.

 

January Events and Activities

Rainbow Trail - Tuesdays – Saturdays and Bank Holidays during January

Bring some colour to your January! Follow the clues to find different coloured items from our collection. Each one will have a letter which you can use to spell a word. Free gift and entry into a prize draw for everyone who takes part. £1 plus admission.

 

Toddler Thursday - Fun for the Under 5’s - Thursday 17th January

Learn, play and explore in our sessions especially for under 5’s and their parents or carers. £1 per child but normal admission applies if you wish to visit the rest of the museum.

Historic Longton Talk - Saturday 19th January

Learn about the past of the town of Longton with local historian Phil Rowley. The current buildings tell the industrial tale of the development of the area and the important role it played in the pottery industry. 2pm. This event is free, please call 01782 237777 to book a place.

 

 

The Tale of the Toilet - Archive Films, Saturday 26th January

On the eve of International Thomas Crapper Day, Gladstone Pottery Museum hosts a special film show presented by Potteries born Terry Woolliscroft who asks the question "What makes a good toilet?"

Using films, both ancient and modern, Terry will explore recorded images and sounds of the manufacture of these massive pieces used in bathrooms worldwide.

"Actually" says Terry, "making a toilet is just like making a teapot, it's just that it's so much bigger!".Free (normal admission applies to the rest of the museum), 2pm. Please call us on 01782 237777 to book a place.

 

Everyday Favourites

Our regular demonstrations and have-a-go activities are available each day we're open - Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Our skilled staff demonstrated pottery skills and you can try painting pottery, making a bone china flower or throwing a pot. Prices for our have-a-go activities start at £1 plus admission.
