Keep an eye out for neighbours, friends and family who may be feeling lonely or isolated ask "are you alright?" - take five minutes to chat and listen to them visit your local library to find out more about activities and services that can help everyone can play a part - loneliness can significantly harm health, but little things can make a big difference These are all quick and easy to do and could make a real difference to someone's day: smile at a stranger rell family or friends that you love them call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while praise someone for something they have done offer to babysit for a friend hold the door open for those behind you let someone know you’re proud of them leave a surprise note or drawing for someone spend time playing with your pet give up your seat for someone greet someone you see daily but have never spoken to take someone out for a cup of tea make someone a cup of tea offer to pick up a friend or family member bring treats in for your friends help a neighbour to take the bins out pass on a good book that you’ve finished with listen to somebody who needs to talk sign up to the organ donor register let someone in front of you in a supermarket or at a road junction clean something you share with others (fridge, microwave, path) donate to charity sign up to give blood if it’s raining, lend someone your umbrella cook a dish for someone else put your loose change in a charity box donate creative items, toys or games to a children’s hospital donate coats and blankets to a homeless shelter feed ducks in the park say thank you more share a book or a story with someone Stay Connected If you enjoyed reading this update, why not check out the other updates and newsletters we offer by clicking here
