Volunteer Community Park Rangers
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is looking to recruit volunteer park rangers who will walk around Hanley Park during daylight hours on weekends, and then in the week as volunteer numbers increase.
The Voluntary Community Park Rangers (VCPR) would go out in groups and provide a point of contact for visitors, offering information on facilities, activities and directions as well keeping the park tidy and carrying out general duties.
Cllr Anthony Munday, cabinet member for greener city, development and leisure, said:
“Not only would they provide a visible and friendly presence, they would be approachable, knowledgeable, and help with any questions or issues visitors have. This is a great opportunity for people to learn new skills, meet new people and get involved in a really high-profile restoration project for the city.”
Volunteers would be asked to commit to at least one five-hour shift per month and would be based in a new community hub building in the park.
All volunteers would be given training on their roles and responsibilities, safety, first aid, customer service and would wear a uniform that indicates they are a volunteer ranger.
If you are interested in getting involved and want to be a part of the park's amazing transformation contact Anthony Meredith, via anthony.meredith@stoke.gov.uk or 01782 232546 for a role profile and an application form.

Restoration update
The restoration work is gathering pace thanks to the fantastic sunny weather.
The clock tower is now back on the main pavilion (albeit just the frame) and the roof will soon be complete to allow work on the interior to begin.
The boathouse and bandstand are both near to completion and the terrace garden steps should also be complete within the next few weeks.
To keep up to date on all the restoration works follow us on Facebook for regular up-dates or pop down the park for a walk about.
We have interpretation boards in all areas of the park which gives a brief history of the buildings or features being restored along with information on the restoration work that is being carried out.
Summer holiday activities
Throughout the summer holidays we will be running free activities for children age five to 11 and have teamed up again with Stoke 100 Reads.
Can you read all of the 17 books we've focused on for each event? We will have special cards which will be stamped each time you complete a book.
All activities run from 2pm until 4pm. Meet at the 1960s bowls pavilion next to the oval bowling green in the centre of the park, near the canal.
