Welcome to week four of summer in Hanley Park

Summer activities are back again in week four of the holidays, with a special fountain switch-on to add to our regular programme.

We've also teamed up with Stoke 100 Reads, drawing inspiration from 17 of the 'parkiest' books from the list.

Thanks to Stoke-on-Trent Libraries and the National Literacy Trust for their support.

Join us for all activities (except the Big Fountain Switch-On) at the former bowls pavilion, next to the oval in the centre of the park.

To find us: Start from the play areas, then cross the canal using the step-bridge by the bandstand (there's also step-free access a little further along the canal) and look for the building and flags over to the right.

Car parking: Our Boughey Road/Avenue Road car park is closed to support restoration works traffic and the delivery of building materials during our £6m project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund.

Alternative parking is available off The Parkway.

Contact Claire Studman on 07584 174465 or Tom Pine 07787 005946 for more information, or email hanleypark@stoke.gov.uk

All of this week's activities are free.

Tuesday, August 15, 12.30pm to 1.30pm: The Big Fountain Switch-On

Fountain flowing

Join us in time for 1pm as we switch on our restored Victorian fountain for perhaps the first time in living memory, with the help of Lord Mayor Councillor Ross Irving.

Enjoy traditional music with Trentham Brass Band, plus a pottery demonstration and clay dragon making with Etruria Artists.

Access to this event: access this area of the park using our Stoke Road entrance. There is no dedicated parking on this side of Hanley Park, so ensure you allow enough time to walk from our Parkway car park. If you need disabled parking please contact us at least 24 hours in advance by emailing hanleypark@stoke.gov.uk

This special event is kindly supported by Aura Conservation. Our restoration project is generously supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund through their Parks for People programme.

Suitable for the whole family.
