Half term fun at Hanley Park

There's plenty of family fun in store here at Hanley Park this half term holiday, from a Secret Garden Safari to the return of the Stoke-on-Trent Soapbox Derby.

Join us for great activities and to see what's in store as our £6m park restoration gathers pace.

Magic Monday: Victorian Visions

Monday, May 29, 2pm to 4pm (drop-in any time)

 

Join us for animated adventure as we create our own Victorian-style visual illusions, phantascopes and 'phenakistoscopes' inspired by the park.


We meet at the former bowls pavilion by the canal, right in the centre of the park. Starting at the play areas, simply cross the canal by the bandstand and look for the flags over to the right.


Secret Garden Safari

Wild Wednesday: Secret Garden Safari

Wednesday, May 31, 2pm to 4pm (drop-in any time)


Join us for a walk on the wild side as we take a mini safari through Hanley Park's secret garden - the park's original play area, where today the minibeasts prowl.

 

We meet at the former bowls pavilion by the canal, right in the centre of the park. Starting at the play areas, simply  cross the canal by the bandstand and look for the flags over to the right.


Wildplay with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust

Thursday, June 1, 2pm to 4pm, (drop-in any time)

 

Join us for an adventure. Take part in a variety of nature-inspired crafts, activities and games.

 

Look out for the Wildplay flag in the park. There is no need to book onto the sessions; children and families can just  drop in at any time.

 

Children must be accompanied by an adult and suitable outdoor clothing should be worn. All Wildplay is free of charge thanks to funding from Children in Need.

Fantastic Friday: Earthwalk

Friday, June 2, 2pm start


Explore Hanley Park’s natural environment through a series of games and activities on an Earthwalk.

 

Join us from 2pm until 4pm and you’ll experience the park in an exciting and different way.

 

We meet at the old bowls pavilion close to the canal, right in the centre of the park. Starting from the play areas, simply follow the path through the park and cross the canal by the bandstand. Look over to your right and you'll see our flags, marking the start location.


Hanley Parkrun

Saturday, June 3, starts 9am


Join Stoke-on-Trent's friendliest 5km run - just you against the clock. Organised entirely by volunteers, runners take part for their own enjoyment.

 

Come along and join in, whatever your pace, but be sure to register first, or you won't get

a time.

Hanley Park Explorers: Sticky Business

Saturday, June 3, 10am (booking essential)

Try your hand at whittling. What can be made from sticks? Join us from 10am until midday to create a whole host of things from sticks and natural materials.

 

We meet at the old bowls pavilion close to the canal, right in the centre of the park. Starting from the play areas, follow the path through the park and cross the canal by the bandstand. Look over to your right and you'll see our flags,

marking the start location.

Stoke-on-Trent Soapbox Derby

Sunday, June 4, 11am to 8pm


This fun-filled family day returns for its second year, with funfair, food and drink, face painting and activities for all the family, alongside the soapbox race itself.

 

Free parking for this event is available at Staffordshire University's Leek Road campus.
