Stunning Downton Abbey costumes on display

Costumes from Downton opens at Potteries Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday, July 2.

 

 

The exhibition features eight of the unique costumes from the first two series of the popular drama.

 

 

It gives visitors the chance to see an evening dress worn by Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary, and a gown worn by Cora, the Countess of Grantham, played by the actress Elizabeth McGovern, as well as outfits worn by other members of the cast.

Commemorative event for the Battle of the Somme

A commemoration of the centenary of the Battle of the Somme will take place in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend. 

 

It will be held at Bucknall Park and involve a procession of schoolchildren led by a brass band, and the unveiling of a tree and plaque in tribute to those from Staffordshire who fought in the battle or served their country during the war.

There will also be a display of military memorabilia and vehicles, a theatre performance and representatives in attendance from the Staffordshire branch of the Royal British Legion and the Armed Forces.
