Get involved
Conversations around mental wellbeing in the workplace have never been more vital, and creating a work environment that encourages mental wellness is essential. Mental Health Awareness Week this May is a great time to focus on our health, challenge stigmas, and support each other.
Communities matter
The theme this year is ‘Community’, and it celebrates the power and importance of pulling together and supporting each other. People and workplaces thrive when there are strong connections between teams. Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support, and sense of purpose.
Useful toolkits and resources
The Mental Health Foundation has lots of resources you can use to create awareness of good mental health, and find ways to get involved in different communities. You'll also discover resources to support your own wellbeing, as well as ideas for promoting staff mental health and creating space for open conversations across your setting.
Mental wellbeing breaks at work
May is also National Walking Month hosted by UK Charity - Living Streets. The main aim of the campaign is to motivate individuals across the UK to explore the outdoors, enhance fitness and link in more with their local community. Where possible encourage staff to take walking breaks at work as this can help provide the perfect opportunity to boost both your physical and mental health .
The Staffordshire Health App finder also has a range of trusted and reviewed apps to help with keeping physically and mentally well. Take a look at the recommended apps of the month, and maybe start up a conversation in your workplace about the best wellbeing apps to use.
