King's New Year Honours for Staffordshire
We’re celebrating some incredible people from Staffordshire who’ve been recognised in His Majesty The King’s New Year’s Honours List.
From a marine biologist driving conservation efforts to a Paralympian inspiring others through sport, their achievements are nothing short of inspiring.
Some of the Staffordshire residents honoured include:
- Sir Ian Dudson, honoured with a Knighthood for his service as HM Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire
- Emily Cunningham, awarded an MBE for her services to Marine Conservation and Coastal Communities
- Professor Elaine Hay, awarded an MBE for her contributions to medical research
- Bob Love, a leading bowler and an ambassador for his sport, has been made a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for his work promoting sport for people with disabilities
A big congratulations to all those recognised!
Could you foster a child?
Every year, thousands of children across the UK need foster care. Here in Staffordshire, there's an urgent need to find 60 more foster families this year.
Throughout January, our fostering team are hosting drop-in events where you can learn more about fostering:
- 23 January, 10-12pm - Hednesford Wetherspoons
- 24 January, 10-12:30pm - Costa Coffee, Queens Retail Park, Stafford
- 27 January, 10-12pm - The Northfield Centre, Stafford
- 30 January, 10-12:30pm - Burton Family Hub
If you've ever considered fostering, why not make 2025 the year you take the next step. Your support could make a lasting difference to a child's future.
