Brownhills Road, Norton Canes works progressing well
Works to resurface a main junction in Norton Canes are progressing well and will be finishing in the coming weeks.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways crews are currently working to resurface the Brownhills Road junction of Burntwood Road.
Works started in early August, and are due to last until the 1st week in September. The works are costing nearly £600,000.
The whole of the junction is being resurfaced, as well as the footways wherever necessary. Crews will also be maintaining and repairing gulleys, and replacing kerbing where needed.
Staffordshire County Councillor Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways Mark Deaville said: "These works will make much-needed improvements to this well-used junction, and I want to thank everyone for their patience while these works are being carried out."
Fixing more roads in your area
Since announcing an £8 million investment into fixing more roads, our crews have been cracking on with repairing defects, cleaning gullies and prolonging the life of some of the roads in Cannock Chase
Over the last month in the district, crews have:
- Fixed 283 potholes
- Emptied and cleaned 252 gullies to improve drainage and help prevent flooding
Over the coming months, more crews will be out and about, working more hours to fix the county's roads and help combat the defects caused by the wet weather we've had.
Environmental Teams are out and about
Our environmental teams have been out and about across the district this month, tidying up footpaths, clearing weeds, and cutting back overgrown hedges.
The above pictures were taken of the link path from Waverley Gardens to Penk Drive in Rugeley, and is just one example of the works our crews have been doing in the area. Even just clearing leaves, overgrown weeds and ivy has made a dramatic difference.
Other places tackled by our environmental teams include:
- Skipton Place, Cannock
- Moreton Street, Cannock
- Link path from Sheringham Drive to Penk Drive, Rugeley
Teams will be out and about, not just in Cannock Chase but across the whole county, over the coming weeks.
Upcoming works...
Works continuing or coming up over the next few months include:
Cannock Subway infill works
Highways works to service the new all-through school being built in Rugeley
I want to take the time to thank you for your patience whilst these important works take place.
We are delivering a huge repair programme that will see us double down on fixing more roads across Staffordshire over the next year.
We understand that road works can cause inconvenience but they are necessary to maintain and improve our highways network. Please be assured that our crews will continue to do their best to reduce disruption as much as possible.
See you next month.
