Upcoming repairs and surfacing
We’re carrying out improvements across the borough over the coming weeks - making a difference to communities across Stafford and Stone.
The work will usually include repairs to the road, footways and kerbs, and sometimes replacing manhole covers and grids too. Repairs are scheduled as part of our annual programme, or they can be priorities put forward by your local county councillor. While work takes place we do unfortunately need to put temporary traffic management or short-term closures in place, so we’d ask you to bear with us during these times.
Improvements due to take place include:
Stafford: Greyfriars Place (Sep 10/11), A513 Beaconside (near Technology Park Sep 16 to Oct 18), Park Avenue (Sep 9 to 13), Malcolm Road Sep (9 to 13)
Great Haywood: Main Road (Sep 9 to 13)
Little Haywood: Coley Lane and Hillside Drive (Sep 9 to 13)
Hixon: Lea Road (Sep 9 to 13)
Weston: Green Road and Boat Lane (Sep 9 to 13)
Gnosall: Lowfield Lane (Sep 2 to 6)
Bradley: Church Lane Bradley (Sep 2 to 6)
Stone: Oulton Road, Airdale Road (Sep 19/20), Crown Street (Sep 18 to 20)
Gaol Square scheme set for mid-September completion
Work to improve the Gaol Square roundabout in Stafford town centre is progressing well and on course for completion in September.
The project has included the resurfacing of the roundabout and its approaches on short sections of A34 Foregate Street, Gaol Road and A34 Queensway.
The team has also been repairing drainage, kerbs and footways around the busy junction, using lane closures and night-time closures to minimise disruption as much as possible.
The scheme has been funded by UK Government.

I want to take the time to thank you for your patience whilst these important works take place.
We are delivering a huge repair programme that will see us double down on fixing more roads across Staffordshire over the next year.
We understand that road works can cause inconvenience but they are necessary to maintain and improve our highways network. Please be assured that our crews will continue to do their best to reduce disruption as much as possible.
See you next month.
County Councillor Keith Flunder
Cabinet Support Member for Highways North
