October 2023

Welcome to the SEND Autumn Newsletter 2023!

Halit Hulusi

As we approach the Autumn half term break, I want to take a moment to share this seasons update in the Staffordshire SEND sphere.

This term we have announced two new strategies for SEND. The ‘Enhanced Assess, Plan, Do, Review’ Pathway and the ‘Strategy for Special Provision’. These exciting developments were shared at the whole-day-event with the Staffordshire Parent Carer Forum, (the Event was funded by Health and planned with the Parent Carer Forum), The ‘Together We Thrive SEND Marketplace Event’.

Additionally, I am thrilled to announce the launch of our 'Co-Production Promise,' a collective commitment that empowers us to work together, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and valued. I encourage each of you to join us in signing up to this promise. Click here to make your Co-Production Pledge.

I am delighted to inform you that all thirteen new SEND Key Workers are now part of our team, spread across the 8 districts. These new positions will greatly enhance our team's ability to serve children, young people, and families.

As we approach this well-deserved Autumn half term holiday, I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to recharge and spend quality time with loved ones.

Wishing you a restful Autumn half term holiday!

Dr Halit Hulusi - Head of SEND

Together We Thrive - SEND Market Place Event

We attended the Parent Carer Forum's SEND Market place event earlier this month. More than 400 visitors attended the event with 50 professional stands.  It was great to see so many people in one room all coming together to share information and knowledge about Special Educational Needs in Staffordshire.

Watch a short video of the event here.

The Staffordshire Co-Production Promise

The Staffordshire 'Co-Production Promise' was collaboratively created over 18 months by children, young people, parents, carers, adults, and professionals from various support sectors. A brief video available to explain the promise in detail has been developed. Watch the video here.
