Meet the athletes competing in IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire
Three inspirational athletes are gearing up for IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire for causes close to each of their hearts.
US/UK citizen, Douglas Ziman, originally from Darlington and now studying at the University of Virginia, will compete in memory of his grandparents from Staffordshire who sadly passed away during the Covid pandemic.
Watch Douglas discuss how he prepared for IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire.
Enya Collier, a 23-year-old graduate from Loughborough University, embarks on her first Ironman. Enya is raising funds for two incredible charities: the Andy Gibson Foundation, helping young people gain opportunities in sport, and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, championing mental health awareness in the farming community.
Adam Bushnell, an employee at Staffordshire County Council, is taking on three triathlons this year, to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s UK in honour of his late friend’s father.

Dates released for giant carbon bubble tour of Staffordshire
The countywide tour, which aims to help raise awareness of climate change is being led by Staffordshire County Council in partnership with Staffordshire’s eight district and borough councils. It’s all part of plans to help the county reduce its carbon footprint and get to net zero by 2050.
The 10-meter bright orange installation will help people to visualize the impact of their daily activities and carbon emissions. When visiting the bubble, people will also get the chance to meet staff from the climate change team for advice on the changes they can make to help the environment.
The tour will be visiting:
- Leek Sparrow Park, Derby Street, Saturday 24 June.
- Beacon Park, Lichfield, Wednesday 2 August.
- Castle Grounds, Tamworth, Tuesday 8 August.
- Hednesford Park, Cannock, Saturday 12 August.
- Baggeridge Country Park, South Staffordshire, Monday 14 August.
