Stephen Alcock, EHSE Manager at PYM Wildsmith said, “The funding provided valuable information regarding equipment use and power loadings, both daily and weekly. The data presented will become a valuable part of our costings process in relation to energy used. We have contacted our compressor supplier who will be able to ‘tweak’ the on and off load parameters on our compressors to reduce our electricity usage and the wear and tear of compressor."

Celebrating the success of our Environmental Sustainability GROWTHmapper project.

Feedback case study on Environmental Sustainability GROWTHmapper.

Lovely to hear positive feedback from Staffordshire businesses proactively achieving decarbonisation. We recently visited Wells Plastics Ltd for a  catch-up with Michael Spight. The team at Wells Plastics completed the Sustainability GROWTHmapper diagnostics and they are continuing on various net zero projects identified by the GROWTHmapper tool. It’s been fantastic working with Michael Spight and a great learning experience. Congratulations!

The funding program is delivered by Staffordshire Business and Environment NetworkStaffordshire County Council and Oxford Innovation who developed the GROWTHmapper tool.

Towards the end of last year, Sustainability West Midlands and the Environment Agency published a document called ‘Weathering the Storm: A Guide to Saving and Making Money in a Changing Climate.’

https://www.sustainabilitywestmidlands.org.uk/resources/weathering-the-storm/

The publication has been produced for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the West Midlands to help them understand how they could be affected by weather, including extreme events, and how they can improve their chances of a quick recovery. The guide also sets out business opportunities from responding to a changing climate and provides useful tools and contact information to help businesses become more resilient. The guide also includes information on how to enhance a business’s resilience to other shocks too, such as those related to the economy, pandemics and cyber security.

They are keen to ensure that as many businesses as possible have access to this resource as they hope it could be useful for their planning for climate and other risks.
