 Celebrate British Science Week at the Perton Library Science Fair & Spring Festival
To celebrate British Science Week Perton Library and Wild About Perton are hosting a fantastic science fair for all the family on Saturday 18th March, 10:00am – 3:00pm.
Following the great success of last year’s event, the library team have worked closely with the community and secured funding from Perton Parish Council, County Councillor Jak Abrahams, the Friends of Perton Library and Wild About Perton. Thanks to this are able to offer some fascinating science shows, exhibitions and things to see and do. The Library team are also working with friends from Wild About Perton and are again buddying up the event with their annual Spring Festival.

Join the ‘Hour Shakespeare’ group at Perton Library for a ‘Shakespeare Selection’
Celebrate ‘Shakespeare Week’ at Perton Library with the ‘Hour Shakespeare’ group. The group will perform scenes from Shakespeare plays, take part in an audience Q&A session and you will also be able to request favourite pieces for the group to perform.

Find out about self-employment at Perton Library
Residents across Staffordshire can call into their local library this March to access advice and guidance to start their own business.
The Staffordshire Start-up Hubs, supported by BES, are an initiative that provides advice, support and guidance to those interested in becoming self-employed and starting their own business.
Many of our libraries now have their own Hub where visitors can access self-employment resources including books, templates and information.
A special drop-in session will be held at Perton Library on Thursday 30th March 10:30am-12:30. No appointment is necessary and self employment coaches will be on hand to provide one-to-one advice and guidance to anyone that would like to talk about their ideas and ambitions to become self-employed.

Compassionate Communities - Bereavement Information Hubs
Compton Care’s Bereavement Information Hubs run across Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire and offer peer support for those who have or are currently experiencing loss and grief. The hubs provide a safe space to meet people in situations similar to your own and a shoulder to cry on should you need it!

 Messier 106 - Taken by Perton Library Astronomy Group using the Faulkes Robotic Telescope Network using the1m telescope at Teide Observatory in Tenerife operated by Las Cumbres Observatory.
Messier 106 is an spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781. M106 is at a distance of about 22 to 25 million light-years away from Earth.
The galaxy contains an active nucleus classified as a Type 2 Seyfert, and a central supermassive black hole. It is similar in size and brightness to the Andromeda Galaxy, but it lies 10 times farther away.
Magnitude 8.4; Distance ~23 million light-years from Earth.

Start-Up Hubs
Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to start working for yourself?
Staffordshire Libraries and Arts Service have received Arts Council England funding to work with Business Enterprise Support (BES) to set up Start-up Hubs in all libraries across Staffordshire.
This is an information awareness service available to anybody who is interested in working for themselves.
You can find information on self-employment and a dedicated space allocated for start-up promotional materials, leaflets, business related reading books and information fact sheets.
Hubs will be coming online throughout 2023 across our Library network.
