We received this lovely comment online from a very happy customer:
Our library in Burton is absolutely wonderful. Their click and collect service throughout lock down was fantastic. I would have been lost without this service and the thoughtfulness and knowledge of the staff x

Staffordshire History Festival
The Staffordshire History Festival began back at the start of September and this year we had to take it online!
We've had a great two months, sharing history and heritage posts from Staffordshire and further afield with you during this time. There have been daily posts on our social media, lots of great videos, weekly quizzes and lots more along the way. Our history themed days have seen thousands of people engaged with posts about The Battle of Britain, The Staffordshire Hoard and the Home Front in Staffordshire during the Second World War. We have shared lots of great online resources with you such as Staffordshire Past Track, the amazing History begins at Home website and also shown you how you can search your family history online with FREE access to Ancestry.
Join us on Thursday 29th October for a day celebrating Staffordshire’s history and heritage on our Facebook and Twitter pages. We’ll be sharing videos and photos that we have collated as well as sharing a selection of videos our staff and volunteers have produced especially for the day.
For these and all our other posts just search using the hashtag #StaffsHistFest in Facebook or Twitter.

Can you paint a Foundation Stone?
Foundation Stones invites you to paint a stone in remembrance of the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust and all other victims of Nazi persecution. You can also choose to dedicate your stone to those murdered in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Building on the Jewish custom of placing a pebble on headstones when visiting a grave, Foundations Stones from across the United Kingdom will become part of the new memorial, each one a commitment to remember and learn from the past.
If you would like to take part, follow these 5 simple steps:
- Find a stone which fits in the palm of your hand. If you are able to go outside, try looking in your garden, street or local park.
- Think about what you want to say on your stone. Are you remembering a particular person, group or genocide? Are you saying something about your hopes for the future?
- Decorate your Foundation Stones. For this, you can use anything you have in the house. Paints, pens, collage, even nail varnish will work.
- Drop off your stone to your local library, between 1 Nov and 6 Jan, where they will be photographed and shared online by Staffordshire Libraries for Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January and then collected by Foundation Stones to be part of the memorial.
- If you do not wish to drop off your stone, you can share a photo of your stone on social media using #FoundationStones or upload photos at www.big-ideas.org/foundationstonesathome and see your stones added to a national map.
