People who are thinking about starting their own business can now get the help they need from a new Staffordshire County Council programme.

The Staffordshire Start-Up Programme is all the support you'd expect, but the series of online workshops, mentoring and practical support will also help you to make sure your business is robust to any future economic shocks, such as the Covid-19 outbreak.

Provided by the Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the county council, the programme is primarily targeted at those who have lost their job or  are at risk because of Covid-19, or just couldn't get their own fledgling business to thrive before lockdown.

Covid-19 Checklist image

Our partners at Newcastle Borough Council have put together a checklist that you can use to:

  • check that that you are able to open and what to do if you can't control the risk of coronavirus

  • explore the range of control measures  to consider to trade in-line with Government requirements and public expectation, while also addressing your responsibilities under Health and Safety law, where no sector specific guidance exists.

Covid 19 government

Updated advice and short videos have been put together for those businesses who can reopen from the 15th June.  The new toolkit includes ready-made posters and social media collateral that you can download and display to show your customers that your business is Covid-19 secure.

The guidance is broken down according to type of workplace rather than sector, with eight sets of guidelines in total, so it's important that you know that you may need to look at several publications according to your  particular circumstances.
