Supporting Staffordshire businesses to get back up and running as lockdown eases
It is good news that a timetable for an easing of the lockdown restrictions has been laid out by government, with the latest news that car showrooms and outdoor markets can reopen, if it's safe to do so, from the 1st June, as long as risk assessments and liaison with unions have been completed if needed.
We also look forward to non – essential shops aiming to open from the 15th June, with tourism and hospitality businesses hoping to reopen in July, if, our course it's safe to do so – also a very essential part of our economy supporting almost 7% of the total workforce and adding £1.85bn to Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
The world of work will look a lot different as we get back up and running, and there will be many aspects that you as businesses will need to prepare for and get used to. We know businesses are working through comprehensive plans to ensure they re-open in a safe way for customers and staff . Help is ready and waiting.
We also welcome the announcement that District and Borough Councils will also receive funding from the European Regional Development Fund to support the safe reopening of high streets and other commercial areas.
