Celebrate ‘Ten Years of Terror’ with acclaimed local author A G Smith at Staffordshire Libraries this December
Acclaimed author A G Smith has been entertaining audiences at Staffordshire libraries since 2009 with dramatic readings of his terrifying ghost stories.
‘It all began at Brewood Library back in 2009 on an unseasonably bright October afternoon.’ A G Smith recalls, ‘That very first performance was daunting for me but the audience was very appreciative and a few weeks later I was at Cannock Library for a repeat performance.’
A G Smith is keen to mark the 10th anniversary of his live readings in Staffordshire with a series of dates at public and community libraries this autumn. The evenings promise to be a terrifying mix of old and new stories. ‘I’d like to dust off the original ghost stories I first performed 10 years ago, but I’ll also be giving the audience the chance to hear an exclusive extract from my brand new play.’
Codsall Library – Tuesday 3rd December
A G Smith’s reading starts at 7.15pm (doors open at 7:00pm) and includes an interval with refreshments.
Tickets (priced at £4.00 or £3.50 for Library members) are now available.
Booking is ESSENTIAL because the event is expected to sell out quickly.
Please contact the library via the County Council Call Centre on 0300 111 8000 to book a place or e-mail codsall.library@staffordshire.gov.uk

Perton ‘Star’ Café’ at Perton Library
On Monday 2nd December Perton Library will be hosting the Perton ‘Star’ Café to provide a friendly and welcoming environment for parents affected by bereavement.
The ‘Star’ Café is a new partnership between Staffordshire Library and Arts Service, Compton Care and Stafford based charity, A Child of Mine. A Child of Mine supports families across Staffordshire and works alongside healthcare professionals when a child has died. They provide confidential emotional support, practical information and guidance to families, and provide training and education for professionals. A Child of Mine already provide several groups for parents and both younger and older children who have lost a sibling. These groups provide a safe, friendly environment where they can meet others who understand and are also useful for helping people access information, advice and signposting to local services and support.
Gayle Routledge, from A Child of Mine, said: “We are passionate about making a difference to bereaved families and providing them with as much support as possible during the dark days that lie ahead. We are delighted that Compton Care and Perton Library will be supporting us as we reach out to bereaved families in South Staffordshire; the library is already a welcoming, safe place to come for families and we hope this partnership will encourage more parents and families to seek us out.”
The Perton ‘Star’ Café will take place on Monday 2nd December and every first Monday of the month from 9:30am – 11:30am at Perton Library, Severn Drive, Perton, WV6 7QU.
