The Deadly Dinner Lady

This book was written by Andrew Clover and is for 7 to 11 year olds.  The book is one of a series of books about detective Rory Branagan but is good as a standalone novel.  It should prove popular with Primary aged readers as it is a funny story similar in style to Tom Gates.  Rory investigates when a dinner lady is 'killed' at the school talent show.
