IRONMAN 70.3 STAFFORDSHIRE UPDATE

Last 100 places for IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire

Places are being snapped up quickly for IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire, and competitors are being urged to sign up quickly or risk being disappointed.

Under starter’s orders on 10 June will be more than 2000 competitors, all hoping to complete a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile half marathon.

The event will start at Chasewater, and for the first time ever, will culminate in Stafford Town Centre.

The event is quickly reaching the last 100 places, so people are being urged to book their space quickly or risk losing out.

Plan your journey in advance

The 2018 edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire will take place Sunday 10 June 2018, and is the first year that the race finishes in Stafford Town Centre.

The brand new run course for 2018 takes athletes into the heart of Stafford Town Centre, with the swim course remaining at Chasewater and the bike course being altered slightly to accommodate the move to Stafford.

The 13.1 mile run course around Stafford will mean even more people will get to see the athletes in action, and cheer them on towards the finish line at Market Square.

People are now being urged to plan any travel well in advance. 

IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire have produced road closure maps with information for local residents to be aware of the safety closures which take place on the Sunday morning of the race. 

This should allow residents to plan their travel and minimise any impact from the event on their own plans. This may involve using alternative routes over the event weekend or adjusting journey times slightly.

Access for Emergency Services will be maintained at all times

NEW free Park and Ride scheme for 2018

IRONMAN, Staffordshire County Council and Stafford Borough Council have worked together to ensure the popular event stays in Staffordshire, bringing with it an estimated £1.1million to the local economy.

The athlete village, expo, second transition area and run course will also be in the heart of the town, allowing supporters and spectators to get closer to the action than ever before.

New for this year is a free park and ride service for spectators who want to enjoy the run course and finish area in Stafford Town Centre on Race Day.  The free service which will be running throughout the day from Staffordshire County Showground.

When does it operate? On race day between 09:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs.

What is the journey time? Around 8 minutes.

2018 Event Details

IRONMAN 2018

IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire consists of a 1.2-mile swim in Chasewater and a 56-mile bike course through the stunning countryside outside Lichfield, Burton-upon-Trent, and across Cannock Chase area of outstanding natural beauty. 

The 13.1-mile run will start at Riverway in Stafford, take athletes in and around the Stafford Town Centre before finishing in Market Square.

IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire offers 50 qualifying slots available for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.
