Double boost as Carlsberg Britvic moving to South Staffs and M54-M6 link road granted green light
Global brewery giant Carlsberg Britvic will be taking up residence in South Staffordshire, it has been revealed.
The news comes just days after the long-awaited M54-M6 link road was given the green light by Government – with the link set to provide an added boost to South Staffordshire’s economy and ease congestion in the district.
Beverage powerhouse business Carlsberg Britvic will be West Midland Interchange’s first occupier, with the firm planning to invest £4 million in its new premises at the site.
Strategically located at Junction 12 of the M6, Carslberg Britvic is set to open its new 222,000 sq ft new facility next year.
Meanwhile, the £200million M54-M6 link road project will provide a direct route connecting the two motorways’ northbound carriageways, cutting journey times, relieving local roads of traffic, and improve access to the district’s major employment sites – in particular, the new Strategic Rail Freight Interchange at Four Ashes.
The new road, which will provide a link between the M6 at Laney Green in Staffordshire and junction one at Featherstone, is set to better connect our communities with job opportunities – and is expected to generate between £550million and £640million in economic benefits.
Leader of South Staffordshire Council, Councillor Kath Perry, said: “The news of world-renowned Carlsberg Britvic coming to the West Midlands Interchange as the site’s first tenant is absolutely tremendous; it shows just how attractive South Staffordshire is to investors.
“The link road is fantastic news for the district; creating added accessibility to jobs and opportunities for our communities, reducing congestion on our roads, and boosting our economy."

Trio of South Staffordshire beauty spots
win national praise
Three South Staffordshire beauty spots have once again scooped Green Flag Awards – with 2025 marking the 27th year Baggeridge Country Park has held the prestigious title.
Wom Brook Walk in Wombourne has also been granted Green Flag status again – for the 16th year in a row – and Sytch Lane Cemetery in Wombourne has been awarded the title for a second year.
The awards, granted by Keep Britain Tidy, are the international quality mark for parks and green spaces and a testament to the hard work and dedication of officers at South Staffordshire Council and local volunteers that care for the green spaces.
Councillor Mike Davies, cabinet member for community services, said: “To once again have three Green Flag Awards under our belt is fantastic – and to have held the title at Baggeridge for 27 years is an outstanding achievement.
“Baggeridge Country Park, Wom Brook Walk, and Sytch Lane Cemetery are each vital picturesque green spaces – not only for the extensive benefits they offer our community, but also for the wealth of wildlife which reside there.
“These awards are testament to the staff and volunteers who care for the sites and they should be very proud of this achievement.”

You must re-apply for your postal vote
New legislation brought in as part of the Elections Act 2022 requires all postal vote applicants to undergo an identity check when applying for a postal vote.
The new legislation requires all existing postal voters who applied prior to October 2023, to re-apply under this new scheme.
You can apply online now via the postal application section on the Government website. If you do not apply online, a letter will be sent to you in April informing you of the changes and the requirement to re-apply.
