Pride in South Staffs:
LGBTQ+ support group creating safe spaces
This Pride Month, we’re proud to shine a light on South Staffordshire’s first LGBTQ+ support group, held at Perton Library.
It was initially launched to support young trans people experiencing isolation and now growing into a vital community resource.
With continued support from local caseworkers and exciting plans to partner with community radio stations, we’re determined to make this group a lasting, volunteer-led space for connection, empowerment, and pride.
📞 Contact Stuart or Debra for further details on 01902 696228 or text 07966 255338.
Refreshments are provided. Feel free to bring a friend with you.
Everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and proud. This is just the beginning.

Active Youth gym access for 14 years+
Active Youth offers supervised gym sessions for 14 -15 year olds at set times.
South Staffordshire Council has upskilled gym staff to safely support young users, leading to updates for health and safety.
Key changes:
-
13 year olds must now attend with a parent/guardian and can only use cardiovascular machines. They can no longer attend Active Youth sessions alone.
-
14 -15 year olds can join Active Youth sessions and use fixed weights (max 5kg). Free weights remain off-limits.
-
Outside Active Youth hours, only CV machines are allowed for under 16s. Weights and free weights are for 16+ only.
Plans are underway to offer fitness classes for 10 - 13 year olds later this year.

Thank you for supporting the spinathon for Will
A heartfelt thank you to Paul Sabin, Amy Watson, Karen Riley, and the amazing team at Codsall Leisure Centre for organising the three hour spinathon in memory of Will.
We were deeply moved by the turnout and the incredible £1,254 raised on 21st June - far exceeding our expectations.
Will, who was studying Physical Education and Sports Coaching at the University of Staffordshire, was passionate about helping children and young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities through sport.
Tragically, he passed away at 19 from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), which affects many people with epilepsy in the UK.
|
The funds will go toward a personalised bench in Will’s home village for family and friends to remember him.
Any extra money will be donated to SUDEP Action, who have supported Will’s family.
Thank you all for your kindness and support.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue urge safe summer fun
As the warm weather continues, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to enjoy the sunshine safely.
Whether you’re barbecuing, walking, or gardening, following fire and water safety guidance is vital.
Never use barbecues or campfires in the countryside, always supervise cooking, and keep flames away from flammable materials.
Avoid burning garden waste and speak to young people about the risks of starting fires.
Be water aware - if someone’s in trouble, call 999 and use the What3Words app to pinpoint your location.
Follow @staffsfire or visit our Safety Outside page for more.
